BMW I8 Pop & Bang MEVD17.2.3 ECU

We’ve developed a pop and bang solution for the BMW I8 model with a MEVD17.2.3 ECU.

The “pop and bang” or “crackle” tuning enhances the exhaust sound by creating loud popping or crackling noises during deceleration or throttle lift-off. This effect is achieved by injecting additional fuel into the exhaust system, which ignites in the hot exhaust gases, creating the distinctive popping sound.

When subjected to higher temperatures, such as those generated by the pop and bang tuning, the stock catalyst can deteriorate, melt, or even become damaged. This can lead to a decrease in the catalytic converter’s efficiency or, in severe cases, its complete failure.To prevent potential damage to the catalytic we recommend removing the catalyst before applying the pop and bang software solution. By doing so, the exhaust gases flow more freely without passing through the catalytic converter, reducing the risk of overheating and damage.
