Technical Description
The Throttle Position Sensor/Switch B Circuit is experiencing a low input.
What does that mean?
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code that applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles. While it is a generic code, the specific repair steps may vary depending on the make and model of the vehicle.
A P0222 code indicates that the car’s computer has detected that the TPS (throttle position sensor) is reporting a voltage that is too low. In some vehicles, the lower limit for this voltage is 0.17 – 0.20 volts (V). The “B” refers to a specific circuit, sensor, or area within a circuit.
Did you make any adjustments when you installed it? If the signal value is less than 0.17V, the PCM sets this code. It could be due to an open or a short to ground in the signal circuit, or you may have lost the 5 Volt reference voltage.
